  • Can one talk meaningfully of a historical fact? How far can we speak with certainty about anything in the past?

Sample Case Study Questions

A. In what ways, and with what results, was there an "industrial revolution" in one country of the region in the fifty years you have studied?

B. With reference to one country of the region, either in the nineteenth century or the twentieth century, analyze the importance of two of the following: health reforms; gender issues; immigration; emigration.

C. Analyse the role and impact of religion in one country in either Europe or the Middle East for a period of approximately fifty years in the nineteenth or twentieth century.

D. Discuss the social and economic policies of either one European or one Middle Eastern state in the second half of the twentieth century, and indicate to what extent the inhabitants of the state benefited.
